Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Electrical Installations (Diploma)

Overview

This Level 3 qualification is for adults who want to progress further in the electrotechnical sector. It builds on the foundations of Level 2 and develops a broader technical understanding of electrical installation, design, inspection, and testing.

The course prepares you for more advanced responsibilities within the industry and supports progression into employment or further training.

What you will learn

You will develop a broad understanding of electrical installation, including:

  • Scientific principles
  • Inspection, testing and commissioning of electrotechnical systems and equipment
  • Fault finding and diagnosis
  • Electrical design practices and procedures
  • Organising and overseeing electrical work in buildings
  • Requirements of Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2018) (2022)

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualification requirements, but learners must:

  • Be aged 19 or over
  • Show they have the literacy and numeracy skills needed for Level 3 study
  • Ideally, have completed Level 2 or have prior experience in electrical installation
