Overview
This qualification is for learners currently employed in the plumbing and domestic heating industry, providing them with the necessary training to develop their existing skills.
This qualification allows the learner to acquire underpinning knowledge and related skills for the installation and maintenance of solar hot water systems.
This qualification has knowledge and performance units which between them cover the competencies for the installation and maintenance of solar hot water systems.
Entry Requirements
Learners must be a minimum of 19 years old and should have a minimum NVQ level 2/3 qualification in plumbing or conventional heating engineering or demonstrable evidence of at least 3 years relevant experience, a Domestic Vented and Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems Certificate, and Water Regulations Certificates.
Course Content
The course is made up of the following four units:
- Know the requirements to install, commission and handover solar thermal hot water systems
- Inspect, service and maintain ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
- Install, commission and handover ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
- Know the requirements to inspect, service and maintain ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
Method of Assessment
Assessments consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.
