This funded Skills Bootcamp is designed to help you understand mental health conditions, recognise support needs and develop the skills to promote positive mental health within the workplace.

Through the programme, you will work towards the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace.

Course Overview

Mental health awareness and appropriate support can play an important role in creating healthier and more supportive workplaces.

This Skills Bootcamp will increase your knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions and introduce you to the principles of mental health first aid. You will explore how mental health can affect individuals, how appropriate support can be provided and how these principles can be applied within a workplace setting.

The programme is suitable for people who want to raise awareness of mental health, contribute to a culture of care and promote positive mental health at work.

It can also support people working in public service and other roles where they may regularly interact with individuals experiencing mental health issues or additional support needs.

What You Will Learn

During the programme, you will cover:

  • Exploring mental health
  • Understanding how to support individuals with mental ill health
  • Understanding what contributes to a mentally healthy environment

You will develop knowledge that can help you recognise mental health concerns and understand how individuals can be appropriately supported within the workplace.

Qualification

On successful completion, you will achieve the:

Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace

Entry Requirements

There are no specific prior skills or qualifications required for this programme.

You must be aged 19 or over to undertake the qualification.

Who Is Eligible?

To be eligible for funding, you must:

  • Be aged 19 or over
  • Be employed or self-employed
  • Live in Essex
  • Have the right to work in the UK

Funding is subject to your individual status and eligibility.

If You Are Employed

Your employer must be able to demonstrate that the training is expected to result in one or more positive outcomes, such as:

  • An increase in your pay or salary
  • An offer of a new job or apprenticeship
  • Increased opportunities or contracts for the company
  • Additional responsibilities
  • Promotion or progression within your current role

If You Are Self-Employed

You may still be eligible for funding if you can demonstrate that completing the Skills Bootcamp is expected to result in an increase in the services you offer.

Self-Referral

If you are currently employed and can demonstrate that the training could improve your job prospects or help you progress in your career, you may be eligible to apply directly.
